About
Built for the nutrients calorie trackers ignore.
VitaMenda exists because every mainstream nutrition app obsesses over calories and macros while quietly hiding the vitamin and mineral data that actually decides how you feel.
Why we're building this
Most people who track food do it for body composition. That's a fine goal — but it leaves you blind to the more interesting question: which nutrients am I repeatedly missing? Magnesium, vitamin D, omega-3, iodine, folate, fiber — gaps in these compound over weeks, not days, and they don't show up on a calorie counter.
VitaMenda is built around three opinions:
- Logging should take seconds, not minutes. A photo is the only sustainable interface.
- A single day doesn't tell the truth. Nutrient status is a rolling average — we use a 14-day window.
- Food first, supplements last. Recommendations point at real ingredients before pills.
Who's behind it
VitaMenda is built by a small independent team in Sweden. We are not clinicians. We are builders and self-experimenters who got tired of chasing biomarkers without understanding our own intake. We work with — and intend to publicly credit — registered dietitians and nutrition researchers who review the science content on this site.
What VitaMenda is not
- It is not a medical device or diagnostic tool.
- It does not measure your blood sugar — it estimates the glycemic balance of each meal from its composition.
- It does not replace a blood panel, a registered dietitian, or your physician.
- It is not magic. Photo-based nutrient estimation has real error bars — see our accuracy page for details.
